Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novels which might be currently in publications (five of your supposed seven book series). Although reading the franchise was enjoyable, I have to admit I'm glad that I can now benefit from the cooler Kansas City weather without obsessively wanting to get time for the many plights with the Stark family. This is all because Martin's much praised franchise is really that once you set about reading 'Game of Thrones' (the 1st in the series) you've basically committed yourself to an emersion of the things dragons, walls, and political intrigue.

Did I need to have prior knowledge before watching Game of Thrones on HBO? No, but I am glad I did only because as the sunday paper it's beyond good and of course worth your time and energy. But speaking of time, I knew that I will not have any in regards to finishing it before the airing so I opted to be controlled by it in audio format.
